There are about 8 to 10 chicken drumsticks in a kilo, a drumstick from a standard bird weighs 100–125g with the skin on. Drumstick, leg or thigh?

A leg quarter is the whole leg, drumstick and thigh together, at £2.80 each skin on; a thigh is the top half, sold by weight at £7/kg skin on. Drumsticks are the smallest and the easiest to hand round: one hand, no knife. Thighs have more meat per bone and are better for curries; leg quarters are the value option for a roast or a tandoori tray. For a children’s party or a BBQ, drumsticks every time.
