Different halal cuts of meat arranged as a guide chart

Shop by Cut: Which Cut for Which Dish?

The single biggest thing that decides how a dish turns out isn’t the recipe. It’s the cut. The right piece of meat, prepared the right way, does half the work for you. That’s exactly why we added Shop by Cut to the store: so you can shop by how you’re going to cook, not just by animal. Here’s how to choose.

For curry, karahi & slow-cooking

Slow, moist cooking wants cuts with a bit of bone and connective tissue. That’s where the flavour is. Think diced pieces, neck, shin, shank and mix. Our Curry Cuts range covers both bone-in (best for depth of flavour in karahi and nihari) and boneless (quicker, tidier for everyday curries).

For biryani & keema

Biryani loves cuts on the bone that stay juicy through the long cook, again, our Curry Cuts are your friend. For keema, kofta and everyday mince dishes, head to Mince & Keema, freshly minced beef, lamb, mutton and chicken.

For the grill & BBQ

Fast, high heat wants tender, ready-to-cook pieces. BBQ & Marinated has boti, seekh and reshmi kebabs, wings, chops and more, marinated and ready for the grill or tandoor.

For a roast or Sunday dinner

Roasting wants a proper joint. Roasts & Joints covers whole chicken, legs and shoulders, the centrepiece cuts for a family meal.

For steak night

When you want to keep it simple and let the meat speak, our Steaks range runs from everyday cuts to tomahawk, ribeye and picanha.

And for the traditionalists

Liver, kidney, tripe, tongue and feet all have their place in proper home cooking, find them in Offal.

Bone-in or boneless?

As a rule of thumb: bone-in for flavour and slow cooking, boneless for speed and convenience. Many of our cuts come both ways, and because everything is cut fresh to order, you can have it exactly how you like it.

Not sure? Ask us, we’ll point you to the right cut for whatever you’re making. Or just browse the full range and take your pick.
