How much does a whole lamb cost in the UK, and how is it cut?
Ikhlas Halal Butcher
A whole halal lamb costs £154.99 at our counter in Bradford in September 2026, and a half lamb is £84.99. A whole lamb dresses out at roughly 14–16kg of meat and bone, so that works out at about £10–£11 per kilo across every cut on the animal, chops, legs and shoulders included, against £12–£17 per kilo for the same cuts bought separately. We cut it to your instructions, bag it in kilos, and it is HMC certified with the stamp on the carcass.
Five ways we cut a whole lamb
| Option | What you get | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Leave it whole | The carcass as one piece, for a spit, a pit, or your own butchery | £154.99 |

| Mixed, roasts, chops and curry cut | Legs and shoulders left as joints, the rack as chops, the rest curry cut | £154.99 |
| Boneless throughout | Every muscle taken off the bone; diced or left in joints as you ask | £169.99 |
| Premium, frenched racks, boned and rolled | Racks trimmed and frenched, legs and shoulders boned and rolled for roasting | £179.99 |
Half lamb: the same choices from £84.99. Whole sheep (mutton) from £169.99, including the Qurbani curry cut with three equal shares.

How much meat is in a whole lamb?
A Yorkshire lamb at the age we buy them gives a carcass of about 16–20kg, and by the time it is cut you take home roughly 14–16kg of meat and bone. Split across the animal: two legs at about 2.5kg each, two shoulders at about 2kg, a rack that gives 16 chops, plus neck, breast, shanks and the mince or curry cut that comes off the rest. Boneless, the yield is around 10–11kg.
Whole lamb or buying cuts, which is cheaper?
Whole, if you will use all of it. Lamb chops bought on their own are £17/kg and a whole leg is £32.50; inside a whole lamb at £154.99 the same chops and legs come in at £10–£11/kg. The trade is freezer space: a whole lamb is 14kg of meat, and unless it is for a dawat or Qurbani, most of it will be frozen the day you collect. A half lamb at £84.99 is the sensible middle for a family.
