Choose your preparation

Two decisions, four combinations. The price is the same whichever you pick. It depends only on the size of the bird.

  • Whole, skin on: the classic roasting bird. The skin crisps and keeps the breast from drying out.
  • Whole, skinless: the same bird with the skin taken off, left in one piece. For a marinade that has to reach the meat, or if you simply don't eat the skin.
  • Curry cut, skin on: chopped into pieces on the bone with the skin left on. More flavour in the gravy, and it holds together through a long cook.
  • Curry cut, skinless: chopped and skinned, the everyday choice for salan and karahi. Leaner, and the masala grips the meat instead of sliding off the skin.

Not sure? Skin on for roasting and grilling, skinless for anything with a sauce.

Why choose Ikhlas whole chicken?

  • HMC-certified halal: independently monitored and fully traceable.
  • Class A British chicken: from trusted UK farms.
  • Prepared your way: whole or curry cut, skin on or off, done fresh to order.
  • Vacuum-sealed & delivered chilled: freshness locked in from Bradford to your door.
  • Butcher-prepared: cut by hand.

How to cook

Roast (whole): around 20 minutes per 500g plus 20 minutes at 190°C, until the juices run clear (75°C). Skin on crisps; skinless wants covering with foil for the first hour so it does not dry.

Curry or karahi (curry cut): brown the pieces, then simmer in sauce until tender and cooked through.

Tip: skinless takes a marinade far better. There is no skin in the way, so the spice reaches the meat overnight.

Frequently asked questions

Is Ikhlas chicken halal?

Yes. All our meat is HMC-certified halal, independently monitored, prepared by trained Muslim butchers and fully traceable.

What do whole and curry cut mean?

Whole is the bird left in one piece for roasting. Curry cut is the same bird chopped into pieces on the bone, ready for the pan. Both are available with the skin on or taken off.

Does skinless cost more?

No. The price depends only on the size of the bird, small, medium or large. Taking the skin off is part of the preparation, at no extra charge.

Which size should I choose?

As a rough guide: small (~900g) feeds two to three, medium (~1.5kg) three to four, large (~2.5kg) five to six. For a curry, allow a little more, the bone weight goes in the pot, not on the plate.

Is it fresh or frozen?

It is prepared to order and delivered chilled.

Do you deliver?
