Why the price per kilo changes so much between cuts
Every lamb has two legs, two shoulders and one rack. Chops come off the rack, and there are only about sixteen of them on the whole animal, which is why they cost nearly twice what shoulder does. Shoulder and neck have more bone and more connective tissue cheaper per kilo, and better for anything you cook for more than an hour. If you are making a karahi or a curry for a family, shoulder at £12/kg or the on-the-bone lamb mix at £13/kg will taste better than chops at £17/kg, not worse.
Is a whole lamb cheaper than buying cuts?
Usually, yes, if you will use all of it. A whole lamb at £154.99 dresses out at roughly 14–16kg of meat and bone, which works out around £10–£11 per kilo across every cut, chops included. We cut it to your instructions: left whole, standard curry cut on the bone, a mix of roasts, chops and curry cut, boneless throughout, or premium with frenched racks and boned-and-rolled joints. A half lamb is £84.99 with the same choices.
Do online prices match the counter?
Yes. The website price is the counter price we do not add an online premium, and we do not run different prices for delivery. What you see on the product page is what rings through the till at City Road.

How much is lamb per kg in the UK generally?
Supermarket lamb in the UK typically ranges from about £11 to £20 per kilo depending on the cut, with chops and leg at the top. Our prices sit at or below that range because we buy whole Yorkshire lambs and break them down ourselves.
Is HMC lamb more expensive?
Not at our counter. Every lamb we sell is HMC certified the certificate is on the door and the ink stamp is on the carcass and the prices above are the only prices we have.
Can I buy lamb by the piece rather than by weight?
Yes. Whole leg (£32.50), whole shoulder (£24.00) and shanks are sold by the piece. Everything else is sold in 500g, 1kg and 2kg packs online, and by weight at the counter.
