Keep refrigerated at 0–4°C and use within the date on the label, or freeze on the day of delivery. Defrost thoroughly in the fridge before cooking and cook until piping hot throughout. Keep raw meat separate from ready-to-eat food.

Why we stock it
- Made in Bradford: cooked by Mumtaz in the same city as the shop.
- A whole curry in a jar: no base to build, brown the meat and pour it in.
- Honest ingredients: no artificial colours, flavours or thickeners.

- Comes with the meat: add it to a counter order and it goes in the same bag.
How to use it
The sauce is already cooked, so the only real job is getting colour on the meat before it goes in.
Brown the meat: hard, in a little oil, so it colours rather than stews.
Pour it in: one jar to roughly half a kilo of meat, then bring it up to a simmer.
Finish: 20 minutes for chicken, longer for lamb or mutton on the bone.
Tip: grill or char the chicken before it goes in rather than poaching it in the sauce. That bit of colour is the whole difference between this and a tin of soup.
Goes well with
Chicken breast fillets, diced breast fillets or inner fillets.

We stock both. The jar is the quick route; the spice mix lets you build it yourself with your own butter and cream.
Can I use it on lamb?
You can, though it is built for chicken. Lamb tends to overpower the sweetness.
Is it halal?
Yes. Mumtaz is a halal food producer and the whole range is suitable for a halal kitchen.

Bradford. Mumtaz have produced from the city for over forty years, which is why we stock them alongside our own counter.
