Keep refrigerated at 0–4°C and use within the date on the label, or freeze on the day of delivery. Defrost thoroughly in the fridge before cooking and cook until piping hot throughout. Keep raw meat separate from ready-to-eat food.

How to use it
This one never goes in the pan. It is used the way you would use salt and pepper, at the very end.
On meat: a pinch over grilled chicken, kebabs or chops as they come off the heat.
On chips and salad: shake it over hot chips, sliced onion or cucumber.
On fruit: over melon, guava or pineapple, the sour-salt combination is the point.
Tip: add it after cooking, always. Heat kills the amchur and you lose the sourness that makes it chaat masala rather than curry powder.
Goes well with
Anything off the grill, chicken niblets, turkey wings, lamb chops or seekh kebabs.

Frequently asked questions
Can I cook with it?
You can, but you should not. The dried mango and black salt are there for a raw, sharp hit and cooking flattens both.
Why does it smell of sulphur?
That is the black salt (kala namak) and it is supposed to. The smell settles down on the food.
Is it halal?
Yes. Mumtaz is a halal food producer and the whole range is suitable for a halal kitchen.
Where is it made?
Bradford. Mumtaz have produced from the city for over forty years, which is why we stock them alongside our own counter.
